Animal World Experience

Animal World Experience will visit the Provincetown Public Library to provide a fun, interactive, and educational animal presentation to audiences of all ages. The program will focus on local and exotic wildlife, the importance of protecting endangered special, and responsible pet ownership. Founder Matt Gabriel creates an animal presentation that is entertaining and also helps the audience to develop respect and awareness for animals of all kinds.

Dolphin Fleet Whale Watch

Join us as LGBTQ+ families fill a boat for spectacular whale watching. Reserve tickets for the 9:00 am trip on Friday, August 2nd by calling 1-800-826-9300 and mentioning “Family Week.” Payment taken with reservation to help with delays. It is recommended that families go to the office ahead of time to pick up tickets to avoid delays and lines.

Reserve ahead to make sure you have space on the boat! Special Family Week rate of $48pp for ages 13+, $33pp for ages 5 – 12, and free for everyone under 4 years old.

IMPROVincetown is offering an improv workshop for youth. What is improv? Improv teaches you to think on your toes, follow the fun and play until you laugh, snort, and ugly cry. Youth will learn improv games, gain confidence while making new friends, and create fun characters to bring to life on stage. This class is for all—new performers are encouraged to attend!

Registration is closed. Monday to Thursday, 2 - 4 pm.

The Provincetown Art Association Museum is hosting a new afternoon Art Time! Don’t miss this fiber arts and puppet making workshop with artist H. Gene Thompson. Students will build a deeper understanding of relating to puppets—as an artist, as a creator, and as a puppeteer. They will collaborate to develop characters who will interact in a performance space and with other sculptural elements. Using a range of materials including papier mâché, foam, paint, and fabric dye, they will create puppets who come to life through innovation and creativity.

Registration is closed. Monday to Thursday, 2 - 4 pm.

Big Ryan’s Tall Tales, an annual Family Week favorite, will return to the Library Children’s Area. The program features Big Ryan’s original stories, puppet play, a bit of music and movement and a whole lot of fun! Big Ryan’s programs are appropriate for preschool all the way to 5th grade. The program runs about 45 minutes but has been known to sometimes go a full hour!

Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater presents P.I.E. Story Theatre - an interactive eclectic performance of adapted fairy tales, fables, and original stories in the “story theatre” style created by Viola Spolin and Paul Sills. Five actors use wooden stools, small props, narration, mime and creative characters to present an exciting and fun 40-minute show with selections from a repertory of thirty stories. Favorites include Casey at the Bat, The Little Engine and Three Billy Goats Gruff.

CCS: Spinnaker Tales & Tails

Join the Center for Coastal Studies (CCS) for this family-friendly educational and fun activity. Learn about the life and death of a humpback whale named Spinnaker, whose skeleton is on display at CCS’s Marine Lab. Through slides and stories, learn all about whale natural history, biology, and the research CCS conducts to study and identify whales. Then get crafty and create your own whale tail, give it a name, and bring it home!

Art on the Lawn

Art on the Lawn is back for the 2019 summer season! Join the Provincetown Public Library for a fun and interactive summer arts and crafts experience for children of all ages. The front lawn of the historic building will be transformed into a creative space for kids to experiment with different materials, while exploring their own artistic imaginations. To showcase each child’s own artistic self-expression, kids will be encouraged to use different mediums, selected by the library, to decorate a large blank canvas with their own creations.  Potential mediums include paint, crayons, chalk, finger-paint, and markers.  The kids will love it!

Join the Center for Coastal Studies (CCS) for this family-friendly educational and fun activity. Head to the beach with a CCS Educator and become a junior marine biologist! Use a special net to collect samples from the shallow waters, then use a microscope to take an up-close look at the tiny marine animals that live in the harbor. Space is limited.
